    Project Overview

Rebuilt a mobile solution that unified SD/HD feeds and halved feature rollout time.

General Pipe Cleaners, a century-old leader in drain-cleaning equipment, relied on a legacy native app to view camera feeds during pipe inspections. The existing solution was two separate codebases (iOS and Android), supported just one camera feed at a time, and made new video-editing features cost-prohibitive. They needed a unified, future-proof mobile platform to support both SD and HD cameras, reduce long-term maintenance, and speed up feature deliveries.

    The Challange

  • Two distinct native apps created high development overhead and inconsistent UX.
  • Single-camera support limited field teams’ visibility and slowed inspections.
  • No sustainable strategy for ongoing enhancements like video editing or custom branding.
  • Our Solution

We rewrote the mobile application on React Native, consolidating iOS and Android into one codebase. Our modular architecture enabled simultaneous SD/HD camera streams, a collapsible settings panel, and semi-transparent control overlays. We engineered the application for long-term growth, ensuring it can be easily and affordably updated with new features and functionality.

    Features:
  • Multi-camera connection with real-time SD/HD stream switching
  • Collapsible settings panel and orientation-aware layouts
  • Semi-transparent UI overlays for in-field controls
  • Saving screenshots/videos to device's camera roll

  • The  Impact

In just three months, field technicians moved from juggling two apps and handwritten notes to confidently managing multiple video feeds in one intuitive interface. General Pipe Cleaners cut new feature development time in half and expects a 25% savings on annual maintenance. The scalable architecture has already paved the way for branded customer-facing releases and future video-editing capabilities without costly rewrites.

“MorelandConnect delivered exactly what we needed: a single app that works flawlessly on both iOS and Android, supports all our camera types, and sets us up for faster feature rollouts. We hit our go-live date without a hitch and our teams love the streamlined workflow.”
